What is Motability?

If you receive either the Higher Rate Mobility component of the Disability Living Allowance or the War Pensioners’ Mobility Supplement then you could qualify for a Motability package with Volvo.

What does the Motability package include?

When you lease a car through the Motability Scheme the following

is always included in the price:

  • Car insurance, servicing and maintenance
  • Full breakdown cover
  • Replacement tyres
  • Windscreen repair or replacement
  • 60,000 mile allowance across the 3 year period
  • Certain adaptations at no extra cost
  • Add 2 additional named drivers - you don't have to drive the car yourself.

Volvo Motability Contract Information

  • Contract Length - 36 months
  • Contracted Mileage - 60,000 miles, over the 36 months
  • Excess Mileage Charge - 5p / mile

Am I eligible to join the Motability Scheme?

You are eligible to join if you are in receipt of one of the following allowances and have at least 12months’ award length remaining:

ERMC PIP
As part of its welfare reform programme, the Government is replacing Disability Living Allowance (DLA) with Personal Independence Payment (PIP) for disabled people aged between 16 and 64. The Motability Scheme works with PIP in the same way as is it does with DLA. For more information, go to dwp.gov.uk/pip/. As of 06 April 2020, this allowance is £62.25 per week.

HRMC DLA
This allowance is provided by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and can be used to cover the cost of a lease agreement with Motability Operations Ltd. As of 08 April 2020, this allowance is £62.25 per week.

WPMS
This allowance is provided by Veterans UK and can be used to cover the cost of a lease agreement with Motability Operations Ltd. As of 08 April 2020, this allowance is £69.50 per week.

AFIP

Armed Forces Independence Payment (AFIP) was introduced as part of the Welfare Reform Act 2012. Those who receive this allowance will be eligible to join the Motability Scheme. For more information, visit Veterans UK website. As of 06 April 2020, this allowance is £62.25 per week (this refers to the mobility element, which is the same rate as HRMC DLA and ERMC PIP).
